Pearl Jam
Formed in Seattle in 1990 from the remnants of Mother Love Bone after that band's singer died, with Eddie Vedder arriving from San Diego to front it. More rooted in classic rock than punk, Pearl Jam offered a more anthemic strain of the Seattle sound. Their 1991 debut "Ten" became one of the best-selling records of the movement, rivaling Nirvana's commercial reach.

Connections1
collaborates with → Chris Cornell
In 1990 Chris Cornell of Soundgarden assembled Temple of the Dog, a tribute project whose lineup included the musicians who would form Pearl Jam alongside singer Eddie Vedder. The session effectively introduced Vedder to the city's circle and knitted two of Seattle's biggest bands into one extended family. It is the clearest personal thread linking Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.
