Release of Ten

Pearl Jam's debut "Ten" arrived on 27 August 1991, weeks before "Nevermind," and grew into one of the best-selling albums of the entire movement. Its slow climb proved the Seattle breakthrough was no single-band fluke but a broad commercial wave. The release helped establish a second commercial pole within the scene, more anthemic than Nirvana's.
