"That's All Right" / "Blue Moon of Kentucky" (Sun 209)
Released on Sun on 19 July 1954, this debut single paired Elvis Presley's reworking of Arthur Crudup's blues with an up-tempo take on Bill Monroe's bluegrass waltz 'Blue Moon of Kentucky'. The two sides, one drawn from Black R&B and one from white country, embody the fusion at the heart of rockabilly. Credited to Elvis Presley with Scotty and Bill, it launched his recording career. It is among the most consequential first records in popular music.
