Dockery Plantation

Dockery Plantation, a large cotton operation in Sunflower County, Mississippi, was home base for Charley Patton and a gathering point for the musicians around him. Its commissary porches and Saturday-night jukes are often described as the cradle where the Delta blues took shape and spread to Son House, Willie Brown, and a younger generation. Now a historic landmark, it stands as the most-cited birthplace of the style.
