Sea Breeze (Toshiki Kadomatsu)

Released on 21 June 1981, "Sea Breeze" was Toshiki Kadomatsu's debut album and an early sign of the funk- and boogie-leaning direction the younger generation would push. Its polished grooves and coastal mood placed it squarely within the city pop aesthetic. The record announced a producer who would shape much of the genre's mid-decade sound.
