"On and On" (Jesse Saunders)

Released in January 1984, Jesse Saunders' "On and On" is one of the earliest original house records committed to vinyl in Chicago. Assembled from drum-machine patterns and a stark bassline, it moved house from a DJ practice to a manufactured product that could be bought and replayed anywhere. The single helped open the floodgates for a wave of locally pressed 12-inches.
