Chip E.

Chip E. is a Chicago house producer, born in 1966, whose early records helped codify the genre's minimal, chant-driven template. A record-store clerk turned producer, he distilled the dancefloor command into spare beats and repeated vocal hooks. His 1986 single "Time to Jack" is among the tracks that named the very act of dancing to house.
