Hard Wax (record shop)

Hard Wax, the Berlin record shop co-founded by Mark Ernestus, became the unofficial headquarters of the city's techno underground. Its racks routed Detroit imports, dub plates and local pressings into the hands of DJs and producers, making it a node in the Detroit-Berlin alliance. As the home base of the Basic Channel circle, the shop helped shape the deep Berlin sound as much as any club.
